Margie Orford is a writer and activist. Her most recent novel, The Eye of the Beholder, was published in 2022 and her next novel, Common Purpose, will be out in 2025. Her Clare Hart novels, a literary crime fiction set in South Africa and Namibia, have been widely translated. She is an Honorary Fellow of St Hugh’s College, University of Oxford. She was a Community Fellow at IASH, University of Edinburgh in 2020 and 2021. She was the John Tilney Writer in Residence at the University of York in 2015 and is a Civitella Ranieri Fellow and a Fulbright scholar.  She is an Ambassador for PEN International and on the Advisory Board of the Johannesburg Review of Books.
